In situ study of the titanium orientation memory effect

Abstract
The titanium orientation memory effect has been studied in situ and in real time by synchrotron white beam X-ray topography for the first time. During this study we have shown that the
elastic strains resulting from the transformation were relaxed by a diffusionnal process (
C). This last observation explains the loss of the shape memory effect.

La transformation
du titane pur a été étudiée in situ et en temps réel par topographie X en rayonnement blanc synchrotron pour la première fois. Au cours de l'étude de l'effet
mémoire d'orientation on a montré l'importance de la diffusion (
C) dans la relaxation des contraintes de transformation et dans la perte de l'effet mémoire de forme.
