Abstract
An exhaustive classification of the density perturbations and magnetic field generation induced by a large amplitude HF wave
is made in the steady state case in a moving frame associated to the HF wave packet in the case of one-dimensional spatial
variation of the envelope of the HF electric field and the condition of the quasi-neutrality is also specified in this case.
The classification depends on four parameters, the skin depth
L0,
the ratio of the kinetic to magnetic pressure,
(
the velocity of the moving frame,
the Alfven velocity) and
. Explicit expressions of the low frequency density
and induced magnetic field
are given according to the value of
L0 compared to al
, the slow space scale of the
perturbations, to the value of
compared to
and to the value of
. A few consequences of this model are discussed.
