Abstract
Deformation behavior of Ni 2MnGa single crystals uniaxially loaded in compression and tension along the $\langle 100\rangle\,\beta_1$ and $\langle 110\rangle\,\beta_1$ axes were investigated. It was shown that three successive stress-induced structural transitions may be observed for specimens tensed along the $\langle 100\rangle\,\beta_1$ or compressed along the $\langle 110\rangle\,\beta_1$ direction, while only one transition was stress-induced in compression along the $\langle 100\rangle\,\beta_1$ axis. The crystal structure of stress-induced and thermal martensite was identified and related reversible deformation values for different loading geometry were estimated.
