Grain boundary structure and mechanical properties of the TiAl intermetallic compound

Abstract
An investigation of the TiAl intermetallic compound mechanical properties has been undertaken in the temperature interval of 20-900 °C and at 1025 °C. Its properties has been found to be considerably dependent on the structure and properties of grain boundaries. The absorption properties of grain boundaries and mechanical behaviour of the intermetallic material are shown to be interrelated.

Résumé
Les propriétés mécaniques du composé intermétailique TiAl ont été étudiées de 20 °C à 1050 °C. On constate que ces propriétés mécaniques dépendent beaucoup de la structure des joints de grains et on montre que le comportement mécanique de ce composé dépend de la capacité des joints à absorber les dislocations.
